when you just can't decide if it's summer or fall

Target sunnies, Lucky & Coco scarf(gifted), Target boyfriend cardigan,
Target purse(swapped), Maurices capris, Madewell skimmer flats

It is just that time of year around northern Minnesota where the summer FINALLY shows up, but WAAAAAY late to the party.  Way late....like all the summer brats are devoured, the lemonade pitcher is empty, and there is just a spoonful of fruit salad left. YEAH! Late you are summer!  Those cute kids on the corner with lemonade stands aren't even going to be able to fill up your glass.  Those stands are all packed up in the garage until next year, school bells have been ringing, and the sweaters have been pulled out of totes.

Kid you not....it actually FINALLY has felt like summer these last few weeks.  Not heat waves, but normal summer temps and weather.  And it isn't suppose to be like this (but don't take that as if I'm complaining....I'm very, very thankful).  It is just that I pulled out the sweaters and I am itching to wear them......you know, with boots and scarves and stuff.  So....because of the warm weather, I had to wear capris and shoes without socks.  But, because it has already been officially fall for a few days I HAD to wear a sweater and scarf.  It felt great!  Just disregard this combination of my fall top half with the summer bottom half.
I just couldn't decide what would be more appropriate attire for these warm fall days!

Aren't you feeling that same itch for sweater weather!? :)
Who doesn't love Fall?!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday! Take 2

Hey! This is Awkward & Awesome Thursday!
It's where I post about awkward and awesome moments in this little thing called life!

And just some pictures of me being mostly awkward.
Target dress & sandals - Peppers "Nola" Eyewear

Awkward

When you step out of your vehicle in a rush to just quuuuuuickly stop in a gas station to grab an Arnold Palmer for a beach picnic. That doesn’t sound really awkward, until I say that I notice my skirt was not covering my unders.  Instead my skirt was caught in my unders and let’s just say that ALL the gas pumps were being used at the time.  How ironic.  So….I was like, “Hello all you people! Here’s my back side! Sorry, but yes you DID just see that.”  Like I said though…we were going to the beach so “unders” was code word for swim bottoms. Thankful they weren’t the real things and maybe wearing swimwear made this experience better and not as awkward, yes?! …or maybe not!

Not awkward for me, but happened to someone VERY VERY close to me…..as quoted from a text I received the other day: “That moment when you’re at a restaurant with people you don’t know that well and you pull out “Chapstick” from your purse to put on your chapped lips…but, you realize your “Chapstick” is actually an unwrapped tampon that you raised to your lips… #thatjusthappened  #wahwah ” So thankful that was NOT me! ;)

Trying to take a nap, in your car, on your lunch…..so you find the closest, empty parking lot and recline.  Twenty minutes later you wake up from your nap, pull your seat back up, turn and look left out your window and notice a man parked right next to you.  Literally, RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR CAR.  Ummm…..there is a WHOLE PARKING LOT empty and he has to park right there and see me with my nap head of hair. Of course we made eye contact and I grinned (with possible drool and face crease), locked the doors, and slowly reclined back down to “napping position.” Just close your eyes, it helps. It helps. It helps. Repeat it.

You are walking into Walmart and see some people you know.  Mid conversation you notice that one of the men has “the barn door open,” “flies are coming in,” “close the doors”….you know!  Do you say something, ABSOLUTELY NOT.  Do you keep checking to see if it still is down, yes, but not trying to.  Awkward and I am sure that person will realize later.  Trust me….if it was a girl or lady, I would have said something.

Awesome

The email you were supposed to receive from your husband yesterday, but missed it until this morning right when you needed to hear it most. It starts with “I am totally in love with you….” and something about God smiling yada yada and your beautiful yada yada……I mean, it all makes sense now and you totally HAVE to have a great day then! ;) Too sweet babe.

Our wood floors are looking amazing, even though we are not completely done finishing them yet.  Those of you who have sanded and finished floors before can understand the awesomeness in being SO CLOSE TO COMPLETION! James has been doing amazing work and we can’t wait to sleep in our bedroom again.  The mattress on the floor for almost two weeks just ain’t cuttin’ it. P.S. I will have a post up soon to show the completed project!!! J

Tomorrow is Friday and that means SUMMER BBQ for lunch. Enough said. Nuuuuuuuuuummmmm.

I actually AM downsizing.  Not just words coming out of my mouth anymore.  I have probably 15 pairs of shoes that I am going to sell as of right now.  Some have been seen on this blog!  More clothes, accessories, stuff, stuff, stuff to get rid of, yes!.  But, one step at a time, right…and that means SHOES first!  P.S. I have all size 9, VERY gently used & NEW booties, heals, etc… If any of you ladies out there are interested in any,  send me an email @ tisfortiffanyblog@gmail.com and I can send pictures and pricing. J

I literally am just finishing this ice cream drumstick.  It was most definitely AWESOME!

Have an AWKWARD or AWESOME Thursday……..or both! J

Well, I hope your Monday has been a good one.

You know what I mean?! :)

Here's to finding joy in the day that gets a bad rap.

Happy good 'ol Monday to ya!

crisp. clean. and refreshing.

Target sandals, Eddie Bauer shorts, Old Navy tshirt, Dollar Store glasses

BLUE & WHITE
So, I must have this thing for blue and white, or something?!
Come to think of it, I must be obsessed.

like our lovely home: white blocks with blue trim and shutters on the outside,
and all different shades of blue rooms on the inside with white trim!
like summer skies: our summer has been surprisingly full of clouds and rain,
but you know the NORMAL summer skies...white clouds on the blue painted backdrop.
I love this color combination, and I don't know why?
like this outfit: which feels like pajamas that you can dress up with heals. ;)

Maybe I like blue and white so much because it's
crisp, clean and cool feeling for a warm, summer day!?

More randomness:
Do you know what else is crisp, clean, and cool feeling? My mouthwash! And say my mouthwash is blue and then white too! You know??.....like when you swoosh it around your mouth while you count down the agonizing 30 seconds you have to keep it in there to kill all those germs. Usually by the time I get to 20 seconds, I'm foaming and overflowing at the mouth, and that's where the white comes in...ALL OVER MY FACE!  Gotta love it though.....'cause it's crisp, clean, cool, blue, AND white!

Ok....randomness and tangent mind must mean it is the weekend! Ready for a weekend break,
................but never take a break from mouth washing, and brushing, and flossing for that matter.
Oh boy....I'm done rambling.

HAVE A CRISP< CLEAN< & REFRESHING WEEKEND!
SEE YOU MONDAY!

Oh, H&M. I'm downsizing! Why do you tempt me so?

Ok.  So....I have this deal with the hubs to get rid of HALF MY WARDROBE!!!  I KNOW!!  CRAZY!! But, totally possible.  It is nothing he is forcing me to do, promise!  I made this decision on my own, seriously! James and I talked about this officially when we were on vacation out west this summer (will post pictures of that road trip asap :) ).

James came to me probably two weeks after that "promise day" of mine and said,

"Babe. So, how many items do you have?"
I was like, "Honey, what are you talking about?"
"Umm..clothing, accessories, shoes, all of it!"
"Oh Yes! The promise. Let's get on that right away."
"Remember 50% of everything, hon."
"I know..."

Well, much has happened since then....but nothing having to do with getting rid of my things.   I haven't gone out purchasing, but I say that a promise is a promise and it has not been completed yet.  I will, I will!

All you fashionistas out there may be freaking out a little,
but if I can down size, N. E. ONE. can! Trust me!
I GOTS ME A LOT.

So....all this being said....It just so happened that when I'm downsizing, H&M decides to start their "BUY ONLINE, not just in store" phase.  How ironic, right!?  Since I'm downsizing, I am just window shopping.  But, you see I have been window shopping H&M since.......well, a long time.  Now you've done it H&M. You just want to tempt me, don't you.  But I'm not giving in, just yet.

If you are not me, and if you are not downsizing....
go right ahead and check out with these lovelies:

It's been a while...

Well hello there.
Let me introduce myself.
My name is Tiffany and this is my blog about......

Yup.  I feel like I've been gone for a while.  Actually, let me rephrase that...I HAVE BEEN gone for a while!  Like exactly 25 days. YIKES!!  Life for everyone is busy, but we each experience different things at different seasons of life.  There has been good things happening in these last twenty-five days and then many deep hard-to-get-through times too.  Maybe one day I can write it down and explain it, but until then....I just know that God is good.  Life is a gift from God, so it is also good, because He created it....and I am thankful for each and every experience in the middle of it, because that is how we are shaped, molded, and built. :)  Cliche, sure. Truth, as well....YES!

_____________________________________________________________________________

From the very beginning of this blog called "TisforTiffany," I knew it would only be a PART of my life, and NOT my everything.
(gasp....did she just write that out? :/ )  I confess!  I must say that consistency of posts everyday is definitely not what blogging is about for me.  There is no right or wrong way to blog, and that is what I really enjoy about it.  I enjoy being able to express and share funny moments, faith, and style here on the blog as often as my little creative mind desires and time allows.  HAHAHAHA! That thing called TIME!  Do you have some to spare!? :)

Blogging is a way for me to keep an online journal of all that creative juice that is bubbling up inside of me.  But man, I admit....sometimes it is bubbling and bubbling and bubbling WAY TOO FAST and I want to do it all. at. once.

That's when I have to...
STOP.
Look around.
See what I got.
See what God has already put right in front of me.
See what responsibilities he has laid out before me.
See what he wants me to do with what he has given me.
And set some things aside for a moment.

So, anyways.....I'm back.  :)

Just stoppin' by!

It is so beautiful here!

Hey there! I thought I could stop in and post a little photo of what James and I are looking at everyday!  Amazing, right!?  We still can't believe how beautiful this nature is!?  I wanted to stop in too to let me family know that I AM ALIVE!  I haven't had cell phone coverage at all, but we made it here safely!  We only have Internet this very second because we decided to stop in and take an hour at the library!  So thankful for AC!! (Hello, seriously....it's been 97 degrees here!!!!).

Anyways, I better sign off! Later on, I'll catch you up on all the fun we have had and will soon!
Later, later my friends!

HITTIN' THE ROAD

taken on the road, of course.
...the obvious thing to say! ;)

We are going out west, to do what's best!
ROAD TRIPPIN'!!!

James and I are finally taking a REAL vacation.  The kind that is consists of a week, sleeping at roadsides (glamorous, I know), and enjoying TIME TOGETHER!  We are so thankful for Nate & Aimee, and Kathy & Troy who will be babysittin' Rainey for the week!
Also, thank you Jeremy and Charity and the huge blessing this is!  THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

We knew that the time has come where James and I both needed to spend some serious time away from all the lovely things we are so proud to be a part of! :) But, we have come to realize that to strengthen a relationship and to keep things in check, sometimes you just HAVE to get away from the norm.  We both are very excited for these next 7 days! They are going to be a lot of just him & me, driving, hiking, rafting, riding..........excited, HOLY COW!  No seriously....we are going to see lots of cows as we drive on by! ;) ha.........as I say this and am writing this, I hope James is ready to put up with me and my silly ol' jokes! Love this dude! Love this time!

SO THANKFUL!!!!

beautiful blossoms(and the weekend), you finally arrived!

Last weekend (two weekends ago, actually), James and I took a little stroll across the train tracks to view the beautiful blossoms that finally arrived in northern Minnesota!  We could see them from one of our upstairs windows and thought they were stunning.
They looked beautiful from a far, but we needed a closer look.  Of course, I can't go anywhere without my camera,
so here are just a few snapshots of those blossoms, up close and personal...

These blossoms didn't smell the prettiest, but beautiful THEY ARE, don't you agree!?

I just hope that wherever you are, seeing blossoms or not, that your weekend will be beautiful!
It has to be....IT'S OFFICIALLY SUMMER!

Enjoy the first weekend of this beautiful season!
See you again on Monday!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday!

Hey! This is Awkward & Awesome Thursday!
It's where I post about awkward and awesome moments in this little thing called life!

Converse Sneakers, Charlotte Russe Skinny Jeans, Target Tank, Target Sunglasses
Awkward:

Someone comes up to you for your assistance after you secretly just DEVOURED a powdered sugar donut (with lemon custard cream).  You go through the entire conversation smoothly, thinking you absolutely got away with it, until they leave and you notice powdered sugar all over your skirt.  Hopefully there was eye-to-eye contact, and not eye-to-skirt.

When you have to go to the bathroom while watching a movie at a theater.  You just don’t want to miss anything, but know that you should never embarrass yourself by having an accident at your adult age.  So, you quickly sprint in and out of the theatre doors (like that is not awkward) and run down the long hallway, only to notice the two ticket attendants ahead of you…..so you kind of slow down to a light jog and pretend that everything is normal.  Then once you pass them, you sprint again.  You know they were wondering…did the movie freak her out? or does she REALLY have to go? You all have been there, don’t lie!

You have to ask a friend to check and see if your athletic spandex pants are ‘see through’ like, “when I bend over like this?” Only, there are at least 30+ people around and I am sure at least one of them is wondering what I am doing.  Asking anyone that question, is just uncomfortable, but you have to ask a good friend that you trust, so you don’t just keep on showing the world everything you got!  You know!

Paying through the drive-thru at McDonalds for the coffee you ordered as you are eating Hardees.  And saying, “Have a great day” with a mouth full of their competitors food because you are trying to be polite but then talking with food in your mouth.  Wow! Double bad.

(Talking about bathrooms again, sorry!) Being at my desk at work which is right in between two separate  bathrooms.  Let’s just say, it is not as awkward for me, but if they all knew the walls were so thin…you get the picture. :/

Awesome:

Two hours after I ate that powdered sugar donut (I talked about above), I ate another bakery item!  Bad for me? Most likely.  Awesome? Most Definitely!

James is officially done, done, done with classes for this semester.  This means a summer with no papers and lots more time with friends and the outdoors... Booyah!

We are going on vacation in 8 days!  Headed out West and can’t be more excited to take a summer road trip.  I better start packing tonight, because it takes this lady FOR----EVER to figure out what I need to bring, not just what I want to bring.  I’ll forget something.
On the other hand, James ROCKS!!!... All he needs is 15 minutes and he is done!  LOTS of credit given to that man.  But we have been married almost 4 YEARS and he hasn’t shared his secrets on HOW!! Come on, dude!

James calling every morning just to make sure I got up, let Rainey out, and…………say, “I love you!”  I don’t care what you think...I live for this romantic, mushy stuff!  He knows me!

Pizza & Juicing…but not together!  James and I enjoy a slice or more here and there.  We also have been enjoying all the juicing we have been doing lately: veggies, fruit, and a juicer…BOOM!  It seems I REALLY crave anything pizza flavored though…most of all, the real thing.  Just make sure you never try to put a slice of the good stuff in a juicer…it won’t work.  No. I didn’t do it! But, there probably was one or more times I thought about it.  Just not going to happen.  Pizza and I have a very respectful relationship.

YOU are awesome…for stopping by TisforTiffany and showing some love!  I read every comment and every email.  This Internet thing is a pretty amazing place to share life with so many other people I like to call friends.  I am not alone! …and it is a real treat.

Looks Can Be Deceiving...

James and I were admiring the beautiful blossoms that we FINALLY have seen in northern Minnesota (we thought the day would never come)!  They looked so sweet smelling, that I had to take in all their sweet-smelling glory!
I stuck my nose right up to branch and took the deepest breath I could.

(INHALE HERE)

OH MY WORD!! Eeewww!
Here is what happened (for those who are visual people):

            1...                                                      2...                                                   3...

Those blossoms looked sweet smelling, but as soon as I took a deep breath, I realized their true colors! Looks sure CAN be deceiving!
Just for warning you here...to admire your blossoms from a far, unless you are into the smelly ones! :)

Plus, I have 20/20 eye seat, so if you thought I needed to wear these glasses because of a prescription, I deceived you.....
but DIDN'T MEAN TOO!!!  I just think glasses rock....so yes, a little unnecessary! But they are fun, right!!

Target Wedges(last summer), Target skinnies(last fall),
Target long sleeve(I know...it's summer),
JCPenney tunic top(old!!), Eagle necklace(my mom),
Chain necklace(a little hospital boutique),
Glasses(purchased from blogger Elaine from ClothedMuch)

Dad's Shoes

<<<<...just borrowing my dad's loafers when I was back home in May>>>>

When I was home to visit my parents last month, I woke up early enough to take a short stroll outside.  I threw on my dad's shoes, like I always did, and headed out the door.  It just seemed natural to me to throw on some of Dad's old loafers.  Ever since my feet were the same size as Dad's, I'd wear his shoes.  One of my favorite pairs were his penny loafers.  I would actually wear them to high school with a penny in each front tab.  No matter what people could say, those shoes were worth more than 2 cents!  I think I just felt....I don't know...a little more comfortable when I put them on....maybe even a little more confident!  The soles were worn leather and pretty beat up, but they were soft to my feet....better than slippers.  Dad still wears his loafers a lot.  He even wore those loafers {seen above} this past weekend, when him and Mom came for quick visit.  On Saturday I looked down and thought,
"Of course he wore those! Why anything else!?"

It may sound cliche, but ever since I can remember, I always wanted to do what dad did.  Of course, it's not that I loved him more than Mom, I just had a tomboy inside of me and wasn't quite ready to be a "girly" girl yet!  I wanted to walk in his footsteps:

Dad was a drummer, so I was a drummer.
(I always watched Dad play drums, every Sunday at church.  He was my inspiration.)

Dad was outside working on some project, so I was outside working right there.
(I am one of four daughters, but I didn't mind getting my hands dirty.)

Dad had short hair,.......well, there was a time when YES.....I had short hair, indeed.
(One moment I had long, red locks, the next I had a mushroom, "bowl" cut.
I think Dad about had a heart attack when he saw me after "the chopping."
I remember saying, "It's okay! I donated it")

...and yes.  Dad wore loafers, so I wore loafers.

 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Dad, the most important thing in my life that you (& mom) did, that I wanted to do,
was live a life that was pleasing to God.  There is one memory that I am grateful for and will never forget:
I was a little girl.  It was bedtime in our little 9 x 10 bedroom where all my sisters and I slept.  You were reading the daily, bedtime Bible stories you and mom read to us girls every night.  When we were done reading I had realized, in the simplicity of the story, that I needed something.  I needed and wanted Christ to live in me. You had Christ in your heart, and I wanted Christ in mine.  I remember that night that you walked me through a simple prayer and kissed me goodnight.  You told me that I was then "a new creation" and that was the start of something amazing.  I may not have understood that moment in it's significance then, but I did as I grew into a young woman.  As I grew up, your faith inspired my faith, and now the faith that I have is my own.  I wanted to follow in your (and mom's) footsteps, but the decision to walk by faith through Christ is now my very own decision (and has been for some time).  I just want to thank you for being steadfast in your faith and living a life for the Lord.  I have seen it, I have watched it, and I appreciate it.

...and the song that I shared with you when I was probably 17:
She Was Watching by Mark Schultz

I Love You!
